Message In A Bottle
Imagine this...you and a group of of friends are stranded for the rest of your lives on a
deserted island. It's got fresh water springs and loads of fruit trees, so
surviving isn't a problem. One day a bottle washes up on the shore with
a message in it containing the words below.
If you were convinced that the words were actually the will of God,
himself, what would you and your friends do in response?
Do a
Discovery Bibles Study on these verses:
Encourage one another.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build
each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Working with one another to make disciples.
Philippians 1:27 Whatever happens, conduct
yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or
only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand fi rm in one spirit, contending
with one another
for the faith of the gospel
Help guard one another against sin.
Hebrews 3:13 But encourage one another daily, as long
as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
James 5:16
Confess your sins to one other and pray for one other so that you may be healed. The prayer
of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
Edify one another.
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and
admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs
with gratitude in your hearts to God. 1 Corinthians 14:26-28 When you come together,
everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All
of these must be done for the strengthening of the church.
Helping one another persist in the mission of the church.
Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider
how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
Welcoming one another
and others
into fellowship.
1 Peter 4:9 Offer hospitality to one
another without grumbling.
Bear with one another.
Colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances
you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Raising up leaders who can lead others in this.
2 Timothy 2:2 And the things you have heard
me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualifi ed to
teach others.
In reality, you're not stranded on a deserted island
but
these words actually
do
express God's
will for our lives. Does the pattern of your life need to change in any way to be more aligned
with God's will?
