Yawara
1. Katate hazushi ichi
- Step in and twist out to escape
outside wrist grab.
2. Katate hazushi ni
- Step in and twist out to escape cross
wrist grab.
3. Ryote hazushi
- Escape 2 hand on 2. Bring hands together
into clasp as you step back into defensive position. Push
elbows forward and take hands over the rear shoulder.
4. Morote hazushi
- Escape 2 hands on 1. Grab fist, step in
with an elbow strike through the solar plexus and then step
back while withdrawing wrist. Push elbows forward.
5. Momiji hazushi
- Escape front choke. No strike.
6. Ryoeri hazushi
- Escape double lapel grab. Uki grabs one
high and one low as in ichi monji. Block uke’s choking arm
at the elbow. Snake the opposite arm in and strike away the
chokin arm. Then step back and strike through the lapel
hand.
7. Yubi dori hazushi
- Escape 4 finger grip.
8. Yubi dori
- Finger hold. Grab uke’s hand and whip it into
a bar position. Then apply the lock on the third finger.
9. Moro yubi dori
- 4 finger come along.
10. Katate dori ichi
- Hand hold #1. Show both the outside
twist and straight down
11. Ryote tori
- Crazy lady. Reach in and grab the hands.
Keep uki spread out, then down. Knee to face.
12. Akushu kote tori
- Handshake into kote gaeshi. Roll
thumb into palm.
13. Akushu ude tori
- Handshake into arm bar. Keep uke’s
shoulder down.
14. Akushu kote maki tori
- Handshake into kote maki dori.
Roll thumb into palm. End up with standing kote maki dori.
15. Emon tori
- Step back to leaning position while pinning
the back of uke’s hand to your chest. Variation - Anticipate
chest push into finger lock on one hand.
16. Tekubi tori ichi
- Quick break from outside wrist grab,
using palm up motion.
17. Tekubi tori ni
- Break and throw from cross wrist grab.
Force uki down with kote gaeshi. Use the forearm for added
pressure.
18. Ryoeri tori
- Double lapel torture hold. Strike through
one wrist to reach other wrist. Apply hand hold #4 to force
uki to mat.
19. Kubi nuki jime
- Counter head lock into hammer lock. Use
strike as usual, then apply kote gaeshi lock to remaining
hand. Use knee strike and step through to force uke ahead of
you to apply hammer lock.
Variation
: Reach over the shoulder
and slide finger under the nose to snap uke’s head back.
Variation #2
: hold on to uke’s hips and slide your leg
between uke’s legs to throw as in uke waza.
20. Hagai jime
- Jujitsu full nelson. Cross your forearms
behind uki's neck and force uki off balance against one of
your thighs in a standing position. Variation: full nelson
with head off to the side.
