Studio Mission:
To inspire students to develop a
lifelong love of music, trust in their own innate
creativity, and to build musical technique through
healthy, natural movements.
Location
and Schedule
:
Piano lessons are offered
in your home
.
I may arrive within 15 minutes of your
scheduled lesson time, depending on traffi c.
•
Please have a reasonably clutter-free area around
the piano, with space for “off-the-bench” activities
and games.
•
In addition to a bench for the student, I require a
chair or bench during the lesson.
•
Students should have all their current repertoire,
technique books, theory workbooks, and a pencil
ready at their piano before I arrive for the lesson.
Practice Time and Other Requirements:
The quality of practice is much more important than the quantity!
However, in order to get good quality
practice, a
minimum
of
20
minutes a day, fi ve days a week is necessary.
Please complete theory
assignments in a timely manner.
Tuition:
You will receive an automated invoice for upcoming lessons each month. The cost will vary depending
on how many lessons there are in the month.
45 minute lessons: $96
60 minute lessons: $115
There is a 15
%
discount for families with siblings signed up for 45 or 60 minute lessons when
scheduled back to back.
Payment is due
on your fi rst lesson of each month
. A
10
%
late fee is assessed for payments received
after this date. Families should expect a yearly increase in tuition appropriate to cost of living increases
and services offered.
Missed Lessons:
•
If Fairfax County Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, we will have a FaceTime/Skype
lesson.
•
In case of illness, I encourage FaceTime/Skype lessons whenever possible. I reserve the right to
cancel a lesson if I arrive and the student seems ill.
•
B
ecause specifi c times are set aside for
specifi c
students, a student who does not attend a
scheduled
lesson will simply miss the benefi t of that lesson. Tuition covers far more than the time with your child,
so you do not need to worry that missing a lesson means wasting money. I frequently use missed
lessons to to plan for your child’s progress, locate materials, etc. There are no refunds or discounts
given unless I am unable to teach the promised number of lessons.
Website Privacy:
At times, I
may
post
pictures, videos
, make announcements,
or
write articles on the blog using
student’s fi rst names onl
y. If you prefer that your children’s photos be excluded from the website, please
let me know.
Dismissals and Termination:
If for any reason you must stop lessons, 1 month’s notice is required. I will have to dismiss a student if
any of these circumstances occur:
failure to pay tuition, uncooperative attitude, lack of progress due to
insuffi cient practice or unfulfi lled requirements.
Parents are required to be available during lessons (either at the lesson or via cell phone). In the event
of an emergency, if a parent cannot be reached, you agree that I will be permitted to exercise my
discretion in providing care and treatment for your child. Parents agree to hold me harmless for any
such care and treatment decisions
.
Thank you for abiding by these policies to help your child’s piano lessons be the most productive and
effi cient!
Thank you
also
for the privilege of allowing me to teach you!
I look forward to a great year.
