Prayer Care Share
This simple process is the quickest way to
be included in
what God is doing. It’s amazing
how he
responds when we
make this our lifestyle.
When we commit to it, we fi nd Jesus orchestrating
circumstances in our lives to include us in what he's doing in the lives of others. It's exciting, it's
natural, but it requires persistence snider prayer and care for others. Here's how we do it...
Pray
Start by yielding your whole life, every day to God. A big commitment, right? This is what Jesus
requires in
Luke 9:23
. In every situation pray, “God, what are you doing here and how do you want me
to join you?” At the same time, begin praying for
fi ve
people with whom you interact
regularly
.
These
could be people with whom you live, work, or go to school. Really, it could be anyone with who you
have regular interaction.
Begin to pray for them. If you don’t have anything specifi c, just start praying
for God’s blessing to be upon them.
Ask him t include you in loving them in the way he sees as best.
As you pray consistently, you’re opening up the door for the Holy Spirit to work through you. In effect
you’re saying, “God I give you permission to
include
me.” God loves that! When you get a specifi c
direction regarding something God wants you to do, obey immediately.
Care
Be intentional about looking for ways to care for the needs of others, especially the ones for whom
you’re praying specifi cally.
How can you make their day better?
As you pray, you’ll fi nd yourself more
attentive to the needs of this person. Look for simple, ordinary ways in which you can help the other
person. How can you
add value to their life
?
Maybe you’ll notice their empty trashcans left out—pick’em up! Maybe they’ll relate that their spouse
or other loved one is sick—bake a casserole! Maybe
they seem stressed at work; ask how things are
going. B
y caring for them, you communicate to them in the most genuine of ways that the
y matter
and also that you’re a person they can trust. You may also have the opportunity to offer to pray for
them right then. (
Almost no one sa
y
s
no to this offer.)
Share
As you pray for people and care for them, they inevitably reveal a need, concern, or fear that they
have.
This will happen 100
%
of the time
. The simple reason is because we
all
have problems and
concerns to which Jesus is the answer. When someone shares a concern with you,
you might ask if
you could pray for them them right then. (People almost always want this.) Yuo might also share how
Jesus met you in a similar situation and the difference he made
. Simply tell them what you’ve
experienced in your relationship with Christ. Tell them about the peace or security you have through
him. Remember, you’re job isn’t to rescue the other person—that’s God’s job—your job is to let them
know that Jesus loves them and wants to bless with peace, joy, and freedom from guilt.
Be prepared to share the difference that Jesus has made in your life. Also be ready to share the
promise of love and hope that God offers to everyone through Jesus. To learn how to do this,
